The Cherokee Nation is one of the largest Native nations today, as a result of their long history, strong people and deep sense of identity. Once upon a time, the Cherokee lived in southeastern United States. They had a land rich in land and forests with mountains and rivers. The Cherokee Nation was in one of the most difficult periods in their history as they were forced to remove. Many Cherokee people were made to leave their homeland and move west. This was a painful journey, which resulted in huge loss. Numerous lives were lost and numerous families were affected. However, the Cherokee people never did. They brought their identity with them and started to build their country in a different location. Once removed, the Cherokee people did their best to establish a new life. They constructed homes, schools, farms, churches and government offices.

As the years went on, the Cherokee Nation prospered. Retention of citizenship and family ties many. The new generations came to know their history and identity.
