The old grandma gets up each morning before the house begins to wake up. She does not hurry. She slowly opens her eyes, and remains in bed for some time. She’s grateful for the new day. She thinks if she gets a good start to the day, it will be a good day. In the morning she has no time to worry. Her first step is to quieten her mind. Grandma sits up straight and slowly after getting out of bed. She puts her hands on her lap and relaxes her body.

Morning Routine

Slow breathing makes heart feel light, she says. She doesn’t rush through a lot of things. She allows herself some quiet time. These restful periods energize her. She then drinks a glass of drinking water. She takes it in slowly. She feels water awakens the body gently. Then, she cleans her face and smiles at herself. She has a gentle smile. A happy face can bring a happy day, she says. She makes herself feel happy, without waiting for something big to happen. She decides to be happy in little things.

Then, grandma starts to open the window and let fresh air in. She gazes up at the sky and the light of the morning is on her face. She likes the quiet surrounding her. Then grandma lays down her bed. Slowly and neatly, she does. A clean bed makes for a tranquil room, she says. Then she cleans up the little things around her. She does not do all the house cleaning at once. She only adds to the beauty of her space. In doing so she creates order and peace for herself. She then makes a simple breakfast. She takes her time eating. She slowly chews on the food and likes it! She will not eat when she walks, or when she’s worried. She feels food strengthens her when consumed in a quiet mind.
