There are lots of memories in senior ladies’ hearts. Some things are easily forgotten and some things are remembered very well. The name may slip their mind for a moment but deep secrets from long ago may still be remembered. An excellent example of the power and oddness of the memory in old age. She could recognize a person’s face but forget her name. She might make an effort to recall, but the word might seem to be very distant. This may cause her to be concerned or embarrassed.

Remember Secrets

For many senior ladies, feelings, stories, promises and secrets ring loud and clear. They recall the hurt that a person is attempting to conceal. They keep in mind the reality of an empty look. They recall the former words and they cease to come back. They remained as memories for they reached the heart. Sometimes secrets are kept in the mind, but not always. These are also kept in the heart.

A name can be forgotten for it is only a word but a secret can remain as it has feeling. May symbolize: Love, sadness, fear, regret, or trust. That is how some old memories are still strong whereas the small aspect of the memory is weak. There have been lots of times senior ladies have had to listen to others. They’ve witnessed family issues, silent concerns, unshed tears and private agonies. May not verbally discuss everything they know. They offer a lot of truths within, as they know the power of silence.

People may laugh at or be impatient with them if they don’t remember someone’s name. This can hurt them. They might be feeling bad enough about forgetting. They shouldn’t be embarrassed. They must be treated with patience, kindness and respect. Don’t allow a name to be forgotten and forget a lifetime of wisdom. There are tons of secrets carried around among the senior ladies. They value trust; they understand that it is one’s most valuable asset. They know that there are some things that are true but hurtful to others.

Pain of recollection of secrets is also found. Certain secrets can be burdensome. Some may cause pain. These will remind some of lost loved ones. A senior lady can be silent with her smile, but she may also be harboring a lot of unknowns. She may have a heart full of memories of which no one is aware. I think back to the quiet memories they have and that old age isn’t empty. It’s packed with stories, secrets and feelings that still count.
