The Cherokee Nation made a new home and started to rebuild. They had suffered a lot but together they recovered their government, schools and communities. During the years, additional political and legal problems arose for the Cherokee Nation. Leaders did try to protect the rights of the Cherokee and to bring the Cherokee together. These activities helped preserve the Cherokee community identity and continued to build the community.
